The green challenge
Urban logistics has to become more sustainable, and CLIC has taken up this challenge. But being green and sustainable also means that your own campus has to be built green from the roots up. Well-considered choices are essential to achieve this. That is also why, from the very start, CLIC has been designing, developing, and building the entire site on the basis of an integrated sustainability plan. That is in the interests of local residents, the CLIC community itself, the logistics sector in the Netherlands, nature, and of course the entire planet.
Circular
The municipality of Haarlemmermeer wishes to become completely circular by 2050, as set down in the Circular City city deal. CLIC aims to play a significant role in that context. Accordingly, the spaces at CLIC comply with this philosophy, and consideration is being given to how the waste streams can be made circular over the entire range of waste, from sewage to disposing of plastic in a responsible manner.
Energy
CLIC does not use natural gas but instead depends on electricity from sustainable sources. In doing so, CLIC supports the energy transition programme. Electricity is generated by on-site solar panels supplemented by green energy from a company supplying sustainable energy. Additionally, CLIC makes use of smart heat storage solutions.
BREEAM
How sustainable CLIC is will be independently determined by BREEAM, a leading sustainability certification scheme. Based on nine categories, BREEAM calculates a score for an organisation. Relevant categories include management, transport, and the use of certain materials. CLIC aims to achieve a high BREEAM score, at a minimum Excellent.
